Another Canon in thePIN. Did any met dept predict a DSLR shower in some parts of our country & I missed that breaking news???
Congratulations on your latest acquisition & all of the veteran thePINs will help you across the uncharted territory. :)

Yes; some interesting shots there. You already have an idea of framing. Work on holding yourself steady to get razor sharp focus, especially if you are shooting at slow shutter speed. That clothes peg shot could have been very good had it been sharper. And DSLR shots can be really sharp.

ya cloth peg shot was framed in my mind as super sharp but i couldnt keep my hands steady! my hands have a built in vibrator-when ever i pick up a camera my hands shake like anything. I am now thinking of getting my left hand replaced by a prosthetic tripod...

@cyclops:the MET said,if it doesnt rain, cameras will rain on people.hahaa.
@roschmann27:Just try to get things in focus where they are needed.Do not always try to get behind getting a nice bokeh. In situations like that, you keep a large aperture and your main subject is not in focus at times.

@anvancy- will surely do that!
but i cant seem to get the fine sharp details even though i try....at 100%zoom everything is smudgy and not clear

N°6 could have been really interesting. On a tripod, step down the aperture to f11 and get everything in sharp focus with some glinting glass...

@ken da- i think the composition is good bcoz i think i was fortunate enough to capture the father son duo with the picture expressing the mood appropriately and their reflection is also good....(correct me if i am wrong)_an i think the picture came out sharp enough?

Composition has got nothing to do with the mood. Composition has to do with the basics. How you frame your photograph. Here, in the father-son photo, the rule of thirds has been followed. That usually sets out to make a decent composition, not to have a centred subject. Vicky will be able to explain this better. Of course this depends on the circumstances too. Once the framing is done, then comes the elevation of moods and how to express it etc. :)

my friends car....
Your subject is sharp. Goes to say that you can actually take sharp photos.
Interesting PP. Two things:
1. Could have straightened your horizon/subject.
2. Could have cropped out the person standing on the left! :) (Probably the owner of the car!)

How do you upload your photos? Through flickr?

If you have a flickr account, you can post the images from flickr. Flickr algorithm feels sharper IMO (Other senior members can confirm?). Most of your recent images are good, but soft. Could be corrected in post processing too.

some more.....
Some Lesson learned by me....
Make a judgement on where to stop PP......
After my first outing with my DSLR.... I was very obsessed with PP....
Was trying to make every bad pic beautiful.... It went on for two weeks...
Then I realised my mistakes....Unistalled Photoshop.... now I just use three PP techniques - crop, contrast correction, color correction. Now I spend more time with the camera and less on the PC. May be later once I am confident with my photography skills, I will start with photoshop to learn digital art.
In the age of digital photography we need to draw a line between Photography and Digital Art
PP should be very balanced, should be used creatively to make good pictures better.
Digital Art as a skill needs to be practiced to get good results.
.....................................
This is my learning curve.... others might have taken a different path....

You are going great guns. Keep them coming. :) The 2nd dragonfly shot is quite decent for a newly canonised person! Though a clearer crispier head shot would have been better still. And apparently dragonflies are good posers.
