Hi
Yesterday, Emirates Airlines flew-in their Airbus A380 into IGI Airport, New Delhi to mark the opening of the grand Terminal 3 which is one of the largest in the world.

I was there to take pictures of "the whale". Was anyone else from this forum around? My pictures of the aircraft can be seen at http://www.flickr.com/photos/asadjaved

I was too lazy to go out and capture a takeoff shot. IMO, its nowhere as much fun as a 777-300 take off.

Here are a couple of the processed shots (a personal record!:p). Excuse the quality but tinted glass makes for horrible clarity. Will process them properly later.

enjoy :D

PS: Fun fact - those wings can flex 8m during takeoff. I originally thought it was BS till I saw the baby in person. It is MASSIVE but nimble!

It is a personal record indeed! The 2nd shot is pretty good. But this damn tinted glass got in the way.

What is this thing about water salute?

The first flight on the new runway, or for T3 always got a ceremonial salute.

The 777-200 looked really awesome because it seemed to emerge out of the wall of snow - just that I didn't carry my cam that day :D

Just checked and the water salute is an international tradition in the aviation industry!

What do you mean flex? It starts flapping like a bird?

That's a beauty! Good shots too.

Tau: That water spray shot is really good.

Loved the shot from asadjansari and hitanshu's traditional water salute (except for the tinted glasses). Awesome shot of the behemoth.
