Today was the so called as 'green day' and I happen to see so many green colored diesel guzzlers gathering to the so sponsored bicycle marathon starting point.
Well anything going brown, green, red or watever, I got some subjects to shoot.
(Sorry for my criticism for this fest, but I have something to show at the end of this thread) ...

I have learnt one thing before I was leaving that place- Bicycling among techies in Bangalore is just about talking fashion. Only 1% care about environment (or maybe less?).

An honest confession, I never go green. I cannot take bus to office due to irregularity in bus schedule, I cannot ride a bicycle as I have chances of getting asthma, I cannot pool car since I cannot work as per other's schedule. And I drive a gas guzzler, I feed 1 lit to my car for riding 9 kms. And no I am not proud of watever I am doing.

Anyways, who cares, so pls sit back and enjoy some shots from my color booster.
(I sound so sad, but actually I am in shock!. Will let u know at the end of this thread.)

Interesting shots! Do you have any action shots? Or any shots related to the theme?

Thanks for sharing.

Meet Mr. Mahalingam. Born 1929 and cycling since 1939.
He is retired senior officer from aviation dept. He bicycled to this place for almost 25kms, and took part in 15kms category.

I happen to meet my very old friend Gaurav with lotza surprises.

I met him after 4 years and came to know that he has been passionately cycling for past more than a year. He is leading the team spectrum racing and recently participated in a cyclathon held in thailand (i forgot the name of event).
I am getting inspired !.

@Bibudesh, Nice work...Especially liked the close-up of the old man...

Some pic. have lost the head of the rider and part of the wheel...either one in complete would have added to the composition..

Me and Dev. missed it b'cos it was raining...till 5 am...we called it off at 4.45 early morning...

Looking forward to see some more pic. Good see D300 being put to use.

Nice images there rohit.

But I also do feel some images needed better composition due to the heads/hands etc cut off..examples can be your 3rd and 4th image where the composition is tight.

Nice to see your D300 in work.

EDIT:did you sharpen your shots after you resized it?

Thanks surya. That portrait is my personal fav too.
Actually it drizzled till 6.30 and till then I was sitting inside the car. I too planned to call it off but then planned to put the weather sealing on test ;-) ..

EDIT: And thanks for the comments sir. I deliberately chopped the head. I think the crop was rather wrong. I have another image with full head covererd, but somehow I wanted to concentrate on the wheels and the engine (the legs).

Thanks dude. I did not sharpen the images but a little level adjustment. The special effects in some of the images are using the readymade settings in LR.
Watermarking in CS3.

EDIT: LR carries me away sometimes while playing with the sliders. But from now on m planning to stick to near SOOC. Lets see how strong is my foundation !. @Ken and @Surya, you guys are the inspiration.

Interesting work. Portrait and the story behind Mr Mahalingam was good. That could have been a story in itself. Good reporting of an event. During such an event you should catch hold of a story like that and delve deeper.

Some panning shots are nice too. Looks like you are enjoying your equipment.

I totally agree with Ken Da. A particular story is what we should ALWAYS look for. :) That creates more interest than a whole event put together! ;)

You can,sharpen through batch mode.

Then your real D300/lens quality will really shine upon resize quality.

Thought of telling since you also run your portfolio site.

So do we call that area of photoraphy as a subset of photo-journalism? Unfortunately I have more info but no very relevant shot to describe it.

Buddy how is that batch sharpening done? Is it like you define a profile or something for a some specification in exif? (Am I going too supercomputed?)

Here are few from the toddlers category. They are in near SOOC (except some color goofup in LR LOL!.).

batch can be done through actions in photoshop.simplest.

Suppose you take one photo.you apply a particular level of sharpness. So before you perform the task, you record this action say as sharpen. Then loading photos in batch you can repeat the actions on the remaining.

The only downside is that some photos that require fairly less sharpening will become over sharpened.Thats why i sit with each photo making customized sharpening.

I started using the high-pass filter method for sharpening, recently. Gives much more natural results for photographs.

hmm. maybe relevant if all the shots are of same genre. Say 100 studio portraits all taken in one setting.

I started using the high-pass filter method for sharpening, recently. Gives much more natural results for photographs.

I came to know about this today. Just did a googling and came to know its really a better option than USM or smart sharpen.

One reason I did not sharpen the image is that I dont know how to properly use the option. My results goes awry.

Secondly I wanted to check the feedback of D300 image quality. SOOC seems to be good till date. The 12-24 is also not dissatisfying ;) .

But definately I am going to try the high-pass filter.
