View Full Version : Delhi :: Where to buy photography equipments / accessories
Hi friends,
I will be crossing delhi and will have 1/2 day available in between. say 1pm to 6/7 pm
Kindly suggest me few locations where i could get following equipments / accessories. Any personal recommendations would be much appreciated.
1. A Tripod
2. A mini pod
3. UV / Polarization Filters (perfered hoya)
4. In car battery charger.
I am not looking for some big mall with balloned up rates, rather some place where i could get good stuff at reasonable and logical prices.
Thanks
Viny

When will you be crossing Delhi? We negotiate rates even in Malls! But I guess your best bet would be Chandni Chowk. Maybe Aryan can be of help. He has bought stuff from there. Pritam Studio it is called I think.

Madan ji - 011 2327 4331 - just before the McDonalds
Bajaj photo - 98111 33159 - in the main lane.
Monty paaji (always 200-500 more than above two) of Pritam 981022 6420

This is all in chandni chowk. Just ask anyone where the mcdonalds or gauri shankar temple is.

I'm guessing Moti is Moti paaji from Pritam - they are all in one lane. Madaan ji's shop is on the main road, some 50m before the main lane.
Palika bazar is guaranteed to be a bit costlier on everything, even trivial stuff. Like say a lens hood costing 70 bucks being sold for 200 in Palika. Other filters etc costing 400 in CC become 500-700 min in Palika.
Come by the metro if you don't have your own vehicle. Its a 3-4 min walk from the exit near Sisganj

Yes. Take the Metro from anywhere. Change lines where it is convenient, just look up the Metro map. You have to get off at Chandni Chowk Station, get out. And the walk towards the Red Fort. Then when you have the fort in sight, look out for these shops. When you find what you are looking for, bargain hard!
Thanks guys, for being so helpful, just one more query.
Could you give me directions and name of the metro station near Nizamudhin railway station, i am stlighty confused over it.

There is no Metro station as yet functional near Nizamuddin Railroad Station. Either you take a train till New Delhi and take the Metro from there. Or you take an Auto, who will cheat you to his heart's content by overcharging you by 400% at least if not more, go to Pragati Maidan Metro Station and then take the Metro to Chandni Chowk by changing once at Rajeev Chowk for the Yellow Line.
10 minutes by Auto INR 30 max from Nizamuddin to Pragati Maidan Metro Station. They will ask for INR200!
Thanks Krish, you almost saved me from getting robbed, 400% man...all those scoundrels should be placed behind the bars...Any prepaid auto stand? Will take auto direct to chandni chowk.
And what is this yellow line :( sound like changing cross over section to change the route.

The Metro lines are colour coded like the Tube in London.
As for the Autos, they regularly rob us too!
The Metro is far more comfortable, air-conditioned, dust free and faster and you do not have to haggle for the prices. Compared to an Auto, it is paradise!
