What say people?
PS: I have a 500D and have not used it for even a second of video out of sheer laziness than anything else :)

You shoot a video coz you wanna do one. It has got nothing to do with laziness. It has more to do with wanting to do it. If you wanted, you would have. However I do agree with most of the points highlighted by the site.

what about the depth of field?what about the reach that we can have by buying certain lenses?
what about the recent news where the house episode was shot with the 5DII?
simple you tube and other searches show the level of movies/films done by DSLR video functions.
the 500D video was a phase 1.regarding canon,5DMKII,7D and now the 550D are phase 2 video,550D offering external microphone manual exposure controls etc.
in nikon D90 was the pioneer in video systems which started the whole trend.but now D300s and now the rumored D90 replacement in september will offer the phase 2 in consumer areas.
compromises have to be made everywhere.

@Tau: Adobe Premiere is a good software for editing videos. On the contrary, FCP is the tool for you if yo have an iMac! :) NOTHING quite like FCP!

To those not keeping up with the news:
http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/13/canon-5d-mark-ii-used-to-shoot-entire-house-season-finale-direc/
For the first time, we replaced our Panasonic pro camera with a 5D Mk II to shoot something and the results were pretty neat. The final output will be unveiled in like, 2 weeks and I'll link you folks to it then.
