When my Fuji was in repairs,I got a call from one of my relatives.the offer was this.temporary till my fuji comes.
So as of now starting on a whole new level.or shall I say different League.and using this now I can understand how "modern" our cameras have become.Initial review of my local city shows that Film is dying atleast in my City.Manual labs are shutting down, others are shifted to Digital.the chemicals treatment provides something different which digital cant do.
Ah yes..In case you wondering the model,
its this..nothing fancy, nothing pro..a simple yet capable camera.

One of the Premiere In Body Autofocus cameras that rocked the slr world in that age.
The Suspense has started.thats the beauty of film.you dont know what you have shot instantly.the momentum is there till you see the results.
Lets see how this goes.
@Mods:can this thread go in the Film Section?

Thanks for the approval ken.the first roll is a total experiment roll.shoots trying to understand the familiarities of the camera.the viewfinder data display is not working.so i have to rely on values which appear on the LCD besides.
the manual gracefully showcases this camera has a six segment silicon photocell metering system.three sensors, two vertical, one horizontal.
the sad part is the proprietor flash contact design.I cant use on any hotshoe for off camera conditions.
Ill need all help and tips from experts here on using this making most out of it.

Anvancy, Happy that you have got a camera, and that too a film SLR to use in the interim. Keep clicking, this is gonna add to your varied experience. And I think with a film SLR, though difficult your learning curve just takes off, as one has to really think about each shot.

Congrats!
I don't use mine for the same reasons you listed. It's nearly impossible to process film these days, especially Black and White (If I find a roll, that is).
On the other hand, processing and printing B&W isn't exactly rocket science and with a bit of practice, one can do it themselves with basic equipment. Try it if you can. It's a load of fun!

Thanks Shutterbug.the 35mm window gives great opportunity.very true regarding composition.i am on the verge of completing my first experimental roll.
Thanks synn.i was surveying local shops here.99% have gone total digital.so this brings good news and bad news.the good news is that I can get digital negatives to work with.the bad is that there is no darkroom technique used.sort of scan and print.
though i found one shop where he quoted 15rs for each photo as charges.total darkroom technique, zero digital.while having a discussion with him,he told that since market has moved digital, shops have to be digital.so shops going digital makes losses for photo chemical distributors.so hardly there are any in mumbai now as per him.

When the AF system was actually brought out, that time minolta AF lenses were on the costlier side.so my uncle settled for two lenses.the one that you are seeing here is the Sigma Zoommaster 35-70 3.5-4.5 and the other is the 70-210.the 210 is still under cleaning mode.
both the lenses had fungus on them.he said sigma and tamrons are prone for fungus.but not N and C.;):p
after cleaning the 35-70 has still one tight spot of fungus.he said if too much chemical is applied to remove ultra stiff fungus then the lens will lose its coating.making it ordinary glass.right now using,i am not seeing any weird spots.
cleaning had to be done here.as you can see,the camera rubber wore off many years ago.dont know why.had to put new battery.some crystals on the LCD have gone kaput.but thankfully they have gone kaput where no information is displayed.
so when i receive my second lens, ill have the maxxum 7000i+sigma 35-70+sigma 70-210+minolta 3200i flash.
anybody knows where can i get a 50mm minolta AF?
