To the west of Jama Masjid in Old Delhi, lies the specialized wholesale market of brass, copper and paper products, popularly known as Chawri Bazaar. It can be reached by taking the street just near the middle projection of Jama Masjid's western (rear) wall.

Today (March 21, 2010), I went there to photograph, explore and savor the rich culture that Old Delhi has.

I sincerely hope you all like the photographs as much as I enjoyed clicking them! :-)

Thanks,
-Aryan

Quite a few good shots. I did not like the panwala shot -sanctity, the portraits that look posed like the loader waiting to load, the last one... However, passenger calling, slayer, secrets within, living young, connecting people are absolutely superb shots! Good ones Aryan. Keep at it.

Thanks Ken da for approving the thread, and for the comments too. :) I will try to work harder, and improve next time. :)

@Aryan I liked the The endless wait.

Dont take it a heart breaker -I find all the other shots to be lil conventional.

On the lighter side, I know I can't do it better myself, but I think I have a sense of judging street photographs :) ..

..

I choose to differ a lot.

Passenger calling, Living Young, connecting people are by no means "conventional". However, I do feel that "endless wait" may seem "artistically" inclined, for me there is nothing really "happening" in that photograph; streetwise speaking!

@Aryan, you are in a league of your own....beautiful picture...which tell the story prevailing..

Thanks for the insights of Chawri Bazar...some of us may not visit the place in our lifetime.

I have not done street photography or rather had the courage do so...I have to attempt it one day with help from some of you....

This is why I am unable to compose an impressive street photograph :( ..
I think I should accept this fact that street is not my cup of tea , but still y do I like waching 'em?

@Techno: Thank you. :)

@Surya: Street photography is really addictive, and at the same time it makes one think and think deeply at that. :) However, if you want to get into street photography, Ken da would be the right person to take some tips from, rather than from someone like me! And I am glad you liked the photographs. Chawri Bazaar, Chandni Chowk, etc. is really THE place to be if one wants to shoot some street photographs, although, franky speaking "street photogaphy" is possible almost anywhere in the world! :)

@Bibu: I understand what you say, and I thank you for your comments. :) And ofcourse no comment (whether a good one or a critical one) is a heart-breaker. It only has made me learn more and more, over time. And I just love this learning process, which is ofcourse a never ending one.

@Anvancy: I have used the Canon EF-S 18-55mm lens for this series; the stock lens which I have. And yes, come to Delhi sometime, I will make sure you have some of the best paranthas around! :D And as for shooting Paalika Bazaar CD vendors, I'll try and give it a shot some-time, although I doubt that photography is allowed inside the Palika Bazaar underground market!
