The Qutb Minar , a tower in Delhi, is at 72.5 meters the world's tallest brick minaret. It is situated in the Qutb complex, amidst the ruins of ancient Hindu & Jain temples which were destroyed, and their stones used to build the Qutb complex and minar.

Construction commenced in 1193 under the orders of India's first Muslim ruler Qutb-ud-din Aibak, and the topmost storey of the minaret was completed in 1386 by Firuz Shah Tughluq. The Qutb Minar is notable for being one of the earliest and most prominent examples of Indo-Islamic architecture.

I was not keeping well since the past 10-12 days, but I've begun to recover. Yesterday, I felt quite well, and thought of going out for shooting a few photographs. I went to the Qutub Minar, got a few photographs. Here, I share a few of my feeble attempts at capturing the beauty of the Qutub Minar and the complex within.

Equipment Used: Canon EOS 400D, Canon EF-S 18-55mm f3.5-f5.6 IS, Canon 50mm f1.8 II

Time: Late evening (5:30pm - 7pm)

Thanks,
-Aryan.

Glory - the Qutub Minar stands in all it's glory. It stands mighty at 72.5 metres.

Nice shots. Perfect timing. And you could not give a call! What a selfish person you are. The last time we deciced to go, we called you remember? :D

Approved

Just some corrections:

It is the world's largest "stone" minaret. The world's largest brick minaret is the one in Cordoba in Andalusia, Spain.
The minaret construction was begun by Qutb ud Din Aibak and finished by his successor, Iltutmish and not Firoz Shah Tughluq. Firoz Shah Tughluq aggrandized the size of the mosque and doubled it in 1386 and started the construction of a 2nd minaret which was never completed.

And yes... did I say nice shots!

@Ken Da: You are back in Delhi already!? I did not know, else would've surely loved to have some company. :) And thank you very much for correcting my history knowledge dada. It has always been my weak point. :D I am glad you liked the photographs, though. :)

@Techno: Thanks Techno, those colors are all courtesy the evening sun and some crystal clear, and for a change blue Delhi sky! :D

Finally some quality shots to soothe eyes.

Freedom, silhoutte and the plane shots are my fav.
I am somehow becoming fan of SOOCs. Do show us some SOOCs as well.
