Damn! But I guess, you can still use your memory cards, keep taking pictures, processing them in your inimitable style and showing them for us to marvel at!

What happnd ?

@Ken: i have XD cards which are only compatible with FUJI FILM and OLYMPUS cameras.

@Nakul:my camera shut down. CCD went kaput in simple words.now when you turn on the camera, everything is white.u put lens cap on it,still no change in metering.

I went to the Fuji center here in Pune to assess the damage.CCD is the culprit.pocket damage of around 10.5k.

Now the great thing is,my camera was not so much marketed in INDIA.so the tech guy told me that IF the CCD is here with the central tech office(GURGAON) then it will be repaired within 10 working days.if its not here, then my camera will make a trip to FUJI JAPAN where it will sit for at least 1 to 1.5Months.

Please let me clarify right now that the Repair is wholly possible.Mr. A. Rajkumar, Country General Manager (DSC), FUJIFILM India started the india wide service network for the cameras.so cameras such as the S100FS and S200EXR +the lower mid cams have better repairing support.

the tech guy clearly hinted that getting my cam's ccd here is difficult.JAPAN is inevitable.so that means a wait for almost 1.5months.

so I am in a confused state.dad has already questioned that what if it goes there comes back repaired and something else happens?cant deny this aspect also.

So this is the reason my photo division is shut down.

Thats sad to know dude.

Btw instead of Spending 10.5k on this camera why don't you buy a new one or may be a used DSLR for similar amount?

@Anvancy: That's sad to know. But, you have humour associated even with a upsetting news such as this (with the use of the poster, et al). So, what do you plan to do now? I feel spending Rs.10,500/- just to repair the camera is a triffle too much!

@Techno:getting DSLRS for 10.5k to 20k is sort of difficult.
for second hand sony R1s the expected price is around 26k.as of now I am with my humble pentax optio s55.its like going primitive.

@Aryan:lol.always keep humor up.the ape also signifiies that i have gone in the stone age.actually 10k includes my sensor + my lens.so whole new lens assembly along with sensor.more of money its the wait.usually it prolongs just too long.

as of now I m accepting donations.:p

How about trying to sell the stuff for say 2-3k, I know it will be difficult but still... and try to get a used DSLR like 350D or 400D or D40(primitive in your language).
If 10 guys donate 1k then your cam can be repaied right? And if you are 'khuddar' then return the bucks after u get a job.

PM me your account number in that case.

i have my ready finance to repair the cam.money is not the issue regarding the repair.its the wait.its like taking a long call on the situation.the question lingering in my mind is that what if the cam after repair will behave properly or not?

Resale of fuji in the market is virtually zero.and upon that a dead one is -1.2 to 3k is very less price for my cam.if i cant arrange money for a better cam then repair will be inevitable.so selling takes a last seat.
i cant stick to a used 400D + a 18 kit lens.I do macro which requires tele.

I am aiming for a first purchase granted i have my finances right.if no then repair will be the answer.

Sorry to know about your loss, Anvancy.

Hope the Fuji Jap bureau does a great job & don't cause problems for you later.

Btw, your sense of humour is good in times of troubles.

There is a sloka in the Gita...

It says it is the body which dies...not the soul....
The soul of your camera is you.....have patience till a replacement is done....
The soul must find a good body....else it will repent later

Do not think(I know it is difficult) much, take a break....write a book on macro photography.... Build some homemade macro Lighting systems, upgrade your home studio....

It was just 2cents from my side :)

my sis jokingly said that you never let the cam take rest.so it went kaput.lol.

the biggest irony is that i am finishing my exams tomorrow after which time and me go on the same track.before my and time's track intersect into one single line,I am at that junction where two rail lines will become one.

lets see where this goes.I may put the cam on repair mode or let it sit in my tamrac bag.

I would suggest you go for a new cam. 10k repairing for a P&S is something I am unable to digest (ok I know its a good camera but still) ..

If u put more 5k into it then at least u can get a DSLR with a 50mm f/1.8. Reverse the lens and u are all set for macro.

So you are completly without a camera or have another small P&S?

the price is sky high since the CCD and Lens are attached together.some weird assembly.I have my cam's service manual which shows the exact breakup of each and every component.so the cam is getting a complete overhaul since i am getting a complete new lens+the sensor.

i know by putting additional money i can step into the DSLR world.i am keeping that option also open.

@techno:i have one pentax optio s55 normal point and shoot.

both my dad and my sis require the cam for their future use.so it IS going for repairs.now planning accordingly when to send it.

@MODS:i think the purpose is served here.closure will be beneficial.
