Name: Sanjoy Banerjee

A small intro : I started loving photography with my fathers Pentax K1000 .He is the one who taught me the basics of phtography like focussing , aperture control etc... My father still has that canera along with 3 lenses .I really like the bright viewfinder of the old film SLR's and Pentax cameras and lenses have always amused me and are good VFM. I liked to focus the camera every now and then but clicking wasnt allowed since its film and blink the KAKO flash .

Later my father bought me a Nikon coolpix s3 which was a good sleek and cute P&S with 6MP and 3.4x Zoom. But after sometime I figuered out its limitations. Its still with me...

After that ,last year I bought a camcorder - Canon Hv20 which has good still photo capabilities also . Even tough with a small sensor and only 3.3MP ,it has IS and gives stunning results when used correctly .

And finally my recent toy Canon 450D / Xsi with 2 lenses Canon 50 /1.8 and Tamron 28-75/2.8 . Usually rent some lenses also - the most common being canon 100 /2.8 macro . Currently in a learning phase and trying to learn the various techniques of photography.

Things I need to learn : I need to learn PP softwares like CS3 , gimp , photomatrix ... Any help in this regard would be great bearing in mind that I would start from scratch.

Lenses I would like to buy would be - Canon 17-55 /2.8 IS USM , Canon 85 /1.8 USM, Canon 35 /1.4L USM,Canon 100 /2.8 Macro ,Canon 70-300 IS USM .

Presently looking for a tripod - preferably a Bogen Manfrotto one and a good head. Also need to buy a lens and sensor cleaning kit urgently .

Favourite genre: Portraits, Landscapes , Macros and pretty much everything :))

Favourite Photographers: karen leslie (http://www.karenleslie.com/blog/2008/11/08/fun-family/)

Glaeser Barbara (http://www.barbaraglaeserphoto.com/index2.html)
and follow some popular photographers like steve McCurry and Ken Rockwell.

All these pics are with out any PP since I am yet to learn any serious PP technique :

Welcome to thePhotographer Sanjoy!

There is blue tint to the first photo. I do not know much about PP, hence I cannot comment on how to correct it.

Where did you take the fall leaves?

Hey welcome! You could surely pull out some pop from those images with minor PP. :)

Sunny: Can we have an Image Editing Permission option like many photog websites have? Where each user indicates if its okay for others to edit his images.

Thanks Kenda - I know there are flaws in each of the photos above but thats obvious from a beginner like me ;) .Like the first one breaks some rules ,the second ones horizon is tilted and the third one is a tad overexposed at places .Thats why I am so eager to learn some PP though I dont want to overdo it so that the pics start looking plastic .

And also the fall leaves were taken at a place called Talihina ,Okhlahoma near to scenic byway 7 on the way to Arkansas. This places are famous for Fall.

welcome Sanjoy....
