Hi folks,
I am planning to upgrade my gear 400D to 40D. Any suggestion on 40D grey market price and some reliable seller in delhi, if any past user experiance of 40d buying in delhi, might help me.

As Sunny said, call the Alpha guys. The 40D is a great camera. I have used it a bit. But I doubt if you will get it first hand in the grey market in India! They will probably sell it to you seconds at around 20K if you negotiate well.

@Naren: Why don't get the EOS 50D instead? Ofcourse, you CAN get the 40D, but as Ken da said, it would be hard to procure a brand new, boxed packed one. However, you can, but ofcourse try at Alpha Digitals (in Palika Bazaar, Connaught Place), but you can also try around at different shops in Palika Bazaar itself for a sweet deal.

Apart from Palika Bazaar, Chandni Chowk is also a good area to shop around for camera equipments (body, lenses, and other accessories). I have got all of my camera gear from Chandni Chowk and everything is working like a charm. :)

40D anyday - unless you are Nitin gera and your skill/ambition justifies the additional money.

And Alfa unless u have a close relationship over time - you will not get a good rate. Try Madaan ji in Chandni Chowk - and there's Delhi Foto store (sic) recommended by couple of media shooters I know.

I tried at alfa,Pritam studio and monu sharma they don't have 40d in stock. They all have suggested me to get 450D. The price was quated 33k with kit lens, is it a fare deal.

450D and 40D fall in two different category....
Upgrading from 400D to 450D is not a great idea....stay with it or go for xxD.

40D production stopped in 2008....replaced with 50D
The rumours say that there is a replacement for 50D very soon....but that talk is going on for the past one year... 2010 first quarter is the the end of 18 months new camera release window for xxD from canon.

There are lot of 50D users Vicky, Surya, etc....

No krish they don't have 40 D even a second one. I think I should wait, one of my friend coming from US in may, I hope I'll get it there at B&H or amazon.

I was saying coz I myself helped a friend sell his 40D there. Do you want me to find out from other places there if I venture that side?
