Best DSLR Under 25k

One of my friend looking to buy a DSRL. Budget cannot cross 25k - but he needs an SLR. What will be the best deal

I have D40 and Sony Alpha 200 in mind

Please suggest - he wants to buy it by this weekend :)

Ashwin, I think the Canon 1000d is available for 23k and the Nikon d3000 for 26k, however I am not sure this is with bill and warranty.

That is will bill and warranty. Atleast in delhi (about 1k more).

I would recommend the Nikon for its feel and the awesomely punchy JPEGs. if he has a budget around 40-45, he can get a deal on 500D which is truly VFM.

And another thing is the Nikon comes with VR lens while the 1000d comes with non IS lens.
