For long we had been thinking of switching to a new car.things such as space, boot space efficiency counted more than just mere acceleration and top speed.

What we were looking was an overall PACKAGE rather than enthusiasm. and alas Hyundai has made a beautiful impact by giving us an I20.

And We are ofcourse not disappointed.

this is just the PROLOGUE!

So Here is the Teaser.

This is not my main car portfolio shoot.thats why the Prologue tag. the Main shoot will be better than this series.

Will post the series as I edit Them.

@aryan: you will have to wait more..since a good place with good light will be be required for it.

Unlike many in the segment the I20 is actually loaded with features such as steering controls, ACC,2 DIN system with 4 speakers and 2 tweeters.Surprisingly the sound is good considering its an OEM unit.the stock is better than other stocks. the interior is beautiful and it doesnt disappoint after putting so much money.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2696/4240227472_ca52e93c8b_o.jpg

the I 20 petrol runs on the same award winning 1.2L Kappa Engine.now for the i10 this engine is more than enough.but for the bigger sis the engine is a bit less considering highway fast driving.but she doesnt disappoint in the city and moves swiftly when you desire it.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2621/4239453563_effee9815f_o.jpg

now having overall length of 3940mm and a wheelbase of 2525mm there is a lot of space including the boot.this is a car for 5 persons sitting comfortably.a big plus point of this hatch.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4006/4239453393_3d79082039.jpg

the MID gives out two trip meters, time driven, time calendar ambient temperature and of course what music you playing.

what it lacks is the fuel efficiency mode.and at first i thought this orange yellow will become a hurdle while driving.but it is actually soothing!

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2671/4240226868_8368592186.jpg

we have an odometer,tachometer,speedometer,temperature gauge,fuel gauge,battery indicator,seatbelt warning,EPS sign,door open status,beam status,oil status,handbrake,ABS EBD status and car immobilizer status.

Pretty Loaded.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2498/4240226642_87db4b0096.jpg

Surprisingly people are more buying the Asta than the Magna.Hyundai has only two models the Magna and the Asta,Magna being the basic Asta fully loaded.

its worth buying the Asta.

A wierdo HDR.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2706/4240225328_221d9594a2.jpg

now just waiting to find some time and go for a main shoot of this.cant wait!

Some very good shots there. I liked especially the interiors! What lens were you using? Or did you do some seamless stitching?

i didnt use any wide angle converters.seamless stitching yes.through the overlap technique.

Anvancy, Congrats on the i20! That car sure has loads of presence!

As for the pics, really liked the ones posted till now, esp the one with the unusual angle/wierdo hdr. I was wondering how you got the UWA effect on the interiors!

thanks aryan and rio.

@shutterbug:thanks.actually the interior shots are panned shots.almost 180 degrees horizontal and then stitched together.next time i m gonna do vertical span.if you can observe the gear knob is not there in these shots.the interior and the engine shot both are panned.

Hey Congrats for the new Car buddy :) .. The car looks cool. Is it an upgrade from your old Esteem (I guess!..)??

OT goes like this:

The one you have is the Kappa or the Diesel one? I have test driven the diesel one for my friend and literally hated the turbo lag. Uptil 2k rpm no response, but after that it jumps away suddenly. I have a habit flooring the pedal in 2nd gear, this I did while taking a sharp turn and in the course I totally lost balance. Luckily nothing happened, I enacted as if I was testing LOL!.

I felt the handling not so great since I drive a fiat, but it may be liked by the conventional driver graduating from the fleet of Marutis/Santros. It certainly feels better than the swift IMHO.
The interior is really impressive and rich!..

Ultimately my friend ended up in a Punto Emotion Pack 1.4 with Great handling and pathetic interior quality LOL..

Start OT:

yes.its the switch from esteem.dad fell in love with this and he never thought again.for the price bracket this is a lovely car.i have the kappa model.so i know this is not an "enthusiasts" car at all.its a family car.i mean if you want enthusiast tag on your car look elsewhere other than the i20(petrol)compromises have to be made.and pune traffic doesnt demand power..it demands agility..and thats where this scores huge.

now the i20 is totally an European model.so interiors and design has been made above other segments.people say that the horn is weak.common this is a pure european model selling in INDIA,they didnt care of the horn.

the punto has huge cramping in the rear.this doesnt.this certifies that it can carry 5 decent persons easily and reach from A to B..not reaching A to B checking 0-60 0-100 but ofcourse reaching the destination.here many go solely on the acceleration and how fast it can go.but seldom they forget what "else" are they getting for their money!the esteem still is an enthusiasts car..no doubt in that.but the i20 is in a different league.people have been bashing this car for its price and stuff.but still its a lovely car and worth the price.

Tata cars..na..dad knows what goes inside.Fiat Punto?the rear space is almost non existent.

END OT.

Indeed. i20 is an excellent choice for family need. Thats the reason why Punto is more popular among the bachelors/newly weds LOL!.. There had been only once or twice that my car has carried more than 3 people, though its has proper room for 5.
Anyways did u or anyone checked the forthcoming Punto Sports?? or the Linea t-jet with full leather interior?

-- I think i should end the OT here.

A quite non-glamorous subject to shoot. But a HDR treatment on a wide angled shot is worth a try.
BTW FYI this car has a higher running cost than petrol car in long run.. The battery lasts for 2.5 years and the replacement costs 60k. Maintenance is again expensive. Nearly zero on safety and comfort. Car is slower than a Hero Majestic. (I somehow stopped my then girlfriend now wife in buying the car 2 years back)

A bit of non-photographic analysis about the subject...I know this is not the right forum...

I have a Maruti Swift. Very happy with the car, a favorite one for long journey.
I travel around 55-60 kms everyday in bangalore (jayanagar->MG road->Airport road-> marathalli -> ITPL and back through ring road).
Was spending around 8-9K :( for fuel.

I gave a serious thought for an EV. bought a REVAi.
Started using it every day.
Already 18K kms done .. Have already saved 90K on fuel.
Spending 600Rs on Electricity every month. I recharge it full every day.
I can take it to a Max speed of 70+Km(but I donot suggest it to anybody).
80Kms max mileage.
40-50Kms is what I drive. Avg at 30Kms in bangalore.
Yes the battery has to be replaced after 3 Years..60K per pack.or take it on lease for 2K per month.
No Clutch, Hand Gear.... Just cruzzz through the bangalore traffic.

On Safety...the car has its own theory...The current model Revai has passed the Crash Test at ARAI. But never take it in front of a truck.

On Comfort... The seats are a bit smaller in size..suitable for people of height <5.8. For taller people the back/head rest might not be comfortable. I has the leg room similar to a Santro. two kids can sit in the back seat.
My car is equipped with AC, Defoggers, central locking(remote) and Leather seats. all OEM fittted.

Looking for more comfort, then need to wait for newer variants this year
This is not for people:
1)Not as a first car.
2)Not if you want to travel in the city with your big family.
3)Not for thrill
4)Financially not a option if your daily travel is less than 30Kms each day

It is a daily office commuting vehicle. if you buy it then Use it to the max.
Buy it to pollute less...Consider proper disposal of old batteries(lead acid), Reva buys it back.

But the owners need to be prepared for the worst experience...
At every traffic signal, people stare at you continuously as if aliens are sitting inside.

It is already 10 years on the road...people still think it is a SPACE SHIP.

http://www.thephotographer.in/galleries/data/543/medium/reva_gear.JPG

I work for a Automotive company..This is how the manufactures view it as..
First EV in Production Globally. Yes an Indian company.
Its electricity management is excellent.
When other big bullies dreamed about it..india experienced it on road.

The largest Automobile company GM has asked Reva to convert it Spark to an EV.

Hmm.. Make sense for you then Devaiah.. But m not sure if the hand-brake pull mechanism exist in your car. I mean if u stop then while starting the car u need to pull the hand brake to fulllest, then press the gas to fullest, release the handbrake and then the car moves. The handbrake works like a clutch if the car has more than 2 people on board.
I mean for me it was quite frustrating while TDing in a stop and go traffic, and moreover it was difficult to keep up the pace with traffic.

I did not mean any offence but maybe coz m kinda petrolhead so I did not quite like the car. I would rather consider a Hybrid like prius if it comes under 10L.

But I know the day is not far when majority will have to think about Reva as a potential option seriously.

Yeah every body think the position of hand brake is crazy. bcoz it is. All that is because of the physical limitation in the chassis design. Every body thinks it has some crazy functionality, but nothing like that.
The function of the hand brake is just like any other car.

If any body interested in Auto Photography of a rare subject for your portfolio... then you can contact me  my car will not charge any money for the modelling assignment

I am feeling to take up the challenge positively. All we need is one more driver who can drive my car. I want to take a wide angle panning from front, and later some heavy editing.
What do u say? I am game this sunday.
