Lovely captures robin.

Just wondering what is the reason for grainy effect on this one though.

I wonder why nobody commented on this one.

Excellent capture! Did you shoot this with a tripod? Can you share the work flow if you don't mind?

Yes ,I cannot live without tripod when it comes to landscaping or night ^ 3 images shot using Tripod different exposures (AEB) -> Blended using Photomatix -> processed in Fusion (instead of tone mapping, which mostly gives artificial results specially at night )->later processed in PS.

You are indeed quite good with your processing capabilities.

No ghosting, no halos... I suppose you keep your clarity slider really low. Just guessing.

At last, I got the results I wanted! Thank you Abhinav for mentioning Startrails.exe somewhere on flickr!
Simple, free and easy to use. Gives great trails, way better than Photoshop's Statistics! All I did was adjust the colour balance for a more blue sky.

This one is also from the July series. I chose to stack only 40 out of the 140 15-sec exposures I took that day. Used the custom self-timer to take 10 continuous shots. Did not (and still do not!) have a tripod, the camera was resting against a wall. So please pardon the shake and broken trail.
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7027/6396458141_3a4e6712a4_z.jpg
a tripod would have helped in a very long trail, spanning just over an hour of star movement.

That is the application I'm talking about. Available here (http://www.startrails.de/html/software.html). I didn't know its users had a flickr group!

To get star trails, go to File>Scripts>Statistics, and load the files. It is good for 25 files or so at max, not so good for more! And the image you get is terrible, a lot of postprocessing will make the trails clear!

As for the 230am post, anything for our passion for photography! :D

Include foreground while doing Circumpolar startrails...It adds value to the image & makes it more dramatic.

Choice of location and dark sky conditions are critical.

I will certainly keep that in mind Sir. Actually from where I was shooting, there was absolutely nothing till the horizon to keep as foreground! And this was the only place near my home where light pollution was the least.

That's quite some effort Arinban
Very well done...

Thank you Nelson. This is the first time I'm trying star trails with a tripod. I wasn't even sure if I'd get enough stars since I couldn't make them out on the LCD. For a first time, I'm satisfied. Next time I can try what Prakash Sir said.

And, I spell my name as Anirban :) it has been spelt and pronounced in a hundred incorrect ways till date :D
