Hi!

Inspired by Sunny's Winter Mornings series, I decided to do the unthinkable! Set up the alarm for 5.00am and retired early last night. Wanted to capture the Sunrise.. so I had left home at 5.20 already.

But, things didn't quite go as per plan... The sun wasn't out until 6.30am, and there was way too much fog to get a sunrise shot:(

Nothing special here.. just sharing whatever I could get..

#1 Waiting for the sun on a small hill by The Bramhaputra.

#2 On way to the local park

#3 At the park

#4 Some construction workers trying to beat the cold..

Then I saw this little homeless girl. Dressed only in a thin sleeveless frock and yet showing no signs of cold! But, look closely, and the numerous scars on her face tell their story.. this cold is too trifle a problem to bother her... she's probably braved much larger problems already...

#5 Defiant

Then, I showed her the picture on the LCD and told her that she looked really beautiful. Her eyes suddenly lit up and she had this beaming smile:) Probably, she'd never had anybody say this to her before...

#6 Happiness

I offered to buy her some bread & tea.. but she ran away shaking her head and smiling..

Had to be back home by 7am to drop off Yash to school.

Thanks for looking. C & C Welcome!

Vicky

Not getting the correct light, specially after an early morning wake up call can be frustrating. The best in the set above are the girl's portraits.

I can see that it was a frustrating experience for you Vikash. Try it once again now that the fog at your place has also cleared.

I liked the construction workers photograph. My kinda story. The first portrait of the girl is good as well. The first ones are not doing it for me; not right WB, too soft due to the fog...

The B&W shot of the girl is wonderful.. and yes, i tried the same thing once in Mumbai, getting up at 5 and waiting for the sun for almost an hour, realising later that Mumbai being in the west, the sun doesnt rise over the sea, it sets there ;)

Best of the lot is the B/W portrait of the girl - clear and natural expressions with a story in her eyes...
