I have been thinking about a Landscape thread for months now. And also one with architecture.

You are sure you want this in Universal and not in a Duel? This looks like the same hut that Synn posted some days back!

Wow! Very different. Looks like the aftermath of a nuclear holocaust. What did you do? Desaturate the green highlights?

Deltaone
09-05-2009, 02:07 PM
Nope, that is IR photography :D. Im foraying into that at the moment. The only problem is the i need to buy an 18-55 kit lens :D. That was taken on the 50 1.4, while a brilliant lens in many aspects, completely useless for IR because it has a central hotspot. So i had to cut off half the image :D. When you do IR green comes out as white or a combination of other tints. Unfortunately, my current cam is also very bad for IR, but i like the effect, and shall try some more to see what i can do with what i have :D. Heres another :D.

That is simply crazy. Though IMO - its a bit underprocessed - SOOC?

It is NOT SOOC!

nice one Ken.

Thanks.

This is indeed an awesome composition.
Thought the shot needs some PP, I believe a RAW mode could have better helped to recover the overexposed clouds.

Man, when will I travel to Europe :(:(:(

Those days I was not shooting much in RAW... and yes, come to Europe, the light is fab, remember the Impressionists?

There is a simple difference between "pretty" and "beautiful" - 'pretty' is temporal whereas 'beautiful' is eternal - the sun comes out somewhere in the Himalayas at 0445hrs. (4:45am) in the morning, while I try and capture the serene moment.

Welcome back to you too Techno.

A few words here...

Where did you shoot the Fall photo? In the Fall photo, I feel it would have been better had you managed to get the left truck out of the picture.

I feel that the first photo could have been underexposed by at least half a stop and the horizon straightened.

I liked the first photo quite a bit which has a lot of potential. I liked the Fall photo too.

Technocrat
12-16-2010, 08:51 PM
Thanks Ken.

I think I have another shot without the left truck & any other traffic(will post than one from home), I included this as the cars on road gave a nice contrast & overall feel to the image.

As for the 1st one, strange that I never noticed the tilt till someone else also pointed this out, actually this one & the last one was taken while on a ferry with lot of wind.

I think I need more discpline in photography, usally I am always ina company who have very less patience for photography & wonder why anyone needs to think so much for a photo :|

Now this is what I want a pic to do. Just felt like I was right there ! thanks Tarc
Thanks Nakul! You are welcome! :)
I agree, Good one.
Thanks Devaiah!
Lovely view Tarc. Except I dont like the treatment. Pseudo HDR would be truly awesome in this scenario, no?
Thanks hitanshu! Like you, me too love HDRs, except that I am not good at that. I tried one with this image, didnt like the way it turned out. So, went for this kinda processing. During the trip, I took other shots where I did a lot of brackets. Hopefully will be able to succesfully process and post them here. :)
very nice
Thanks robin!

Amazing shot.

Not really, this is pretty much the true picture of what murky atmosphere Bengal looks like these days!

The season now is such that early mornings or early night shots come out beautiful.the rest is mainly harsh light.

Yes, this would have looked much better if taken early morning. When i started clicking, I realized there is just too much light and nothing else !!

@Abhinav, A almost Square crop is not working for me...little more of a sky needed....This pic is not as vibrant as your previous super posts. None the less nice picture.

I have a question for you...have you tried printing any of these landscapes in large size...ex. more than 24x36inches....??

Why do you ask? To see the kind of pixels that may appear on print?

Why do you ask? To see the kind of pixels that may appear on print?

Two reasons: One ...is how clean the image looks like in print...or is it pixelated...
Two...Large landscape prints must be a treat to watch. which may give you a feel of almost being there....:)

Decent composition. Working around the curves a bit would better the contrast and make the greens come out more vibrant.
