Macro was never my taste, but somehow there was a pinch somewhere, an itch to try out something in macro.
After facing lotza frustration with reverse lens procedure, I thought there is no escape, a Macro lens IS NEEDED.
So the contenders were Nikkor 105mm, Sigma 105mm f/2.8 macro and Tamron 90mm f2.8 .
Did some research and came to know that Tamron 90mm is most popular among the nikonians due to its near quality to Nikkor 105mm at half the price.
I have found the lens to be sharp but not as sharp as my 50mm f/1.8 (might be an incorrect category), but yes its the fact.
The Tamron is a fun to use lens but sometimes frustrating when it lazily and noisily hunts for focus. Focus is quite slower and sometimes needs a MF hint to negotiate frustration. Focus limiter switch comes to rescue while shooting portraits.
The f stop is not constant 2.8 and most commonly the highest f stop is around 3.5 on an average.
The barrel extends a lot while focussing and the length while fully extended is nearly same as the lens by itself. So while shooting bugs, insects u need to be extra careful (I have not tried it yet).
Here is the lens-
