Yes. The Andamans do give a lot of opportunity to shoot some good sunrises and sunsets. Good work there, despite the horizon, nice composition.

I did mention it was taken moments AFTER the sunset. In my experience, the sky is most interesting after then sun has set.

Not every sunset has to be beachside, no? ;)

If anyone EVER visits Ahmedabad side in winters - Thor is a must visit - it is 30km from Amdavad but the sunrise/sunsets there are simply fantastic. I've never found a location better in my travels globally where you're assured of fantastic pics with the crappiest cameras :)

Certainly. It's already at 400 with an f4. I don't think mk2 as such a good response with high sensibilities. especially compared to what have seen coming out of top of the line Nikon. Meanwhile i heard that Canon is soon to come out with some incredible new things concerning high iso.
This said your right i might have pushed it to 800, which is my limit.

That said, I LOVE the colors. Brilliant. and well composed!

Why I'm a bit surprised is that my camera automatically defaults to ISO 1600 when the light falls a bit low. And doesn't take unusable pics (not by PP atleast!)

Why do you limit the 5D MKII to iso 800? At that price, i'd much rather trade it in for a Nikon if the ISO performance is nothing to write home about!!

I tried that, I felt like there wasnt enough space. I agree there is a lot of free space on the upper part of the photo; but 'felt' that added more character. I could be wrong :D

Nope, that bird is real. It was just a lucky shot as I was playing with the camera. It's actually the "underexposed" shot of a 3-photo exposure bracket.

About the grain, my SX1 IS is quite noisy. This pic was at f/6.3, 1/1000 sec, 100 ISO.

I usually see those illuminated pixels in long exposure shots. Anyway, since it's not a recurring thing, it's all good. :)

It was shot just after sunrise (although many people have told me that it looks like sunset) with the 70-300 at 300mm focal length. I didn't want to lose details in the sun, hence shot it at f/6.3 (sweet spot of the lens), 1/500, ISO 200. The bird and tower aren't really in focus because it was focused at almost infinity for getting a sharp sun.
