Nice style. And staying coherent with the style, I liked the 2nd the most. Nice monochrome treatment. No high contrast, no high sharpnes, looks like a soft focus treatment.

Liked the first one the most.
Vicky ji, might sound like a noob question, but why did you use the 400L for the portrait shot?

Lovely shots there Vicky! I would have however loved to see the colored shots. :)
Same question as 'shutterbug' - why the bloody 400L for portrait? :D Wonder, how far you were standing. :D Also, I notice the high ISO you had to use as a result of using the 400 5.6. But, since you have a 50D, I don't suppose the high ISO would have been a problem. On my 400D however, I would have spent 90% of my PP time removing the noise! :p

dayumn! double dayumn!
Yes even I noticed the high ISO! For someone who is yet to get a D SLR, noise free shots above ISO400 is like a distant dream!

Thanks Ken!
Yes, that treatment was on purpose... she wanted that soft fairytale look to them:)

Thanks! No particular reason or logic behind this... I had the 400L with me and thought, why not try :)

Yes, I have the color versions, but she doesn't want to be seen in the bright yellow that she was wearing:rolleyes:... LOL, can never understand this teenager logic:cool:
As for the 400L, well, I just had this with me and thought of trying.. in the 400mm shots, she was some 40ft from the camera.
Regarding ISO, I've simply stopped caring about ISO until 1600... as you can see for yourself, its hardly reason to worry. Moreover, I've not applied any form of Noise Reduction on these at all:)

LOL:cool: That's not true!!!

And I am sure you are going to teach us that as well. On your photo manipulation thread! :)

Seeing that the sun was barely at 40° elevation, the bright yellow might just turn out to be beautiful!
.. in the 400mm shots, she was some 40ft from the camera.
That is like 12 metres. In my place, that would be the next building! Almost :D

Absolutely loved this one! Everything about this photograph, the expression, the light, the bokeh of the fence and the superb post processing is perfect!
I found the second one too overexposed, or is it the post processing? The 3rd and 4th shots are nice, but the 1st one is in a league of its own! :)

i agree with you PG. same comments from my side :)
the first photo was taken from 40 feets away from the object (vicky mentioned somewhere in his earlier replies) thats why the bokeh looks awsome

Thanks Xavier! #1 is my favorite too:)
As for #2 its not exactly overexposed.. though it might look that way! It's actually shot with the sun behind her to get that 'Hi Key' look:)
Not much PP on any of these apart from running selective blur mask and convert to greyscale:)

Nope, the subject was 40' from the camera.. and the fence about 10' behind her....
Given the same Focal length and aperture, the degree of background blur depends on the ratio of the distance between camera to subject (point of focus) and the distance between subject to background..
Made a small illustration for you... hope this helps:)

Gr8 shots there vicky .... 1st one is what i liked the most.
1st has a little pinkish tone on the face .. did you use some sort of color fading effect here ... or is it just my stupid office monitor which is showing this shade.

the combination of a high native resolution being re-sized to fit the screen, the advanced sensor having a per pixel noise level similar to the previous gen despite the greatly increased pixel density, and the advanced algos and capabilities of the Digic 4 do make it Good.
and from what http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Canon-EOS-Rebel-T1i-500D-Digital-SLR-Camera-Review.aspx says, the 500D betters the high ISO capabilities of the 50.
Though the full frames with about two and a half times the sensor area (and similar ratio of cost) are beyond anything a crop sensor can touch. Ken Da's 4 year old 5D still holds its own real good, only bested by much more expensive newer models.

Wow! That makes me feel good. But believe me, the 5D falls short in a lot of other areas, notably in AF speed, tracking speed in AI Servo. Though I am not letting go of my FF in a hurry. I will stick to it for a few more years!

very subtle for the eyes.
my personal suggestion or rather question..whatever.
what if a tinch of contrast or "soft black" is added to this?or may be its CRT Vs LCD.
a nice sepia or even color or even selective coloring will do.but portraits always look go in BW

Nice...Liked the last one the most...Love B/W pics...But would also like to see the coloured versions of these pics...
