Wow, a TAg Huer Chrono! Congrats and belated wedding anniversary wishes! But I see that amidst all the jubiliation reality has dawned on you when I saw your comment that you are wary of paying heavily in return!

Photos look good! On what have you kept the watch? Is it the case itself?

@Vicky: I do not know anything about watches. But, as for the macros, a few more would not hurt. ;)
And congratulations on completing seven years of marriage! :) :)

There are three things that I would like to say...
1. I would have liked to see the 2nd photograph at a later time, eg; at the same time as the 1st photograph.
2. I would have preferred a lighter matt background. You got the matt right. I would have liked it lighter to have little more contrast to valorise the watch even more.
3. Would like to see some more shots :)

He He... its the cover pouch of the 430EX flash.. it has a lovely texture to it and almost looks like carbon fiber when out of focus:)

Yes, now that I notice, most of the photos of watches are taken with the hands at the 10:10 position and the seconds hand at the 25-35 sec position.. dont really know why, but it surely looks better!
Will try out with a lighter bg as suggested by you..
In fact, I must admit that I love collecting watches, and inspired by the results I got, I might try a series on them sometime:)

Traditionally the watch manufacturer's name appears on the top middle of the dial under 12 O'clock. The watch's hands at 10:10 accentuates and highlights the brand name. Tag Heuer is bit different from traditional brands. But this position would look better nevertheless.

Yes, we would like to see a series. Show off your Oysters and Pateks. I love watches too! Though I am not in the same league as you with a Tag in tow! :)

Vicky, Congrats on completing 7 years of Marriage...and wish you many many more years of happy married life to come.
Lovely gift and it proves your wife has very good taste. With this gift she would expect you to be more presise and time consious ...!!!!
Nice shot of the watch...I feel it would have had more punch if the small hand was set to ten and the big hand to 2....showing a " V" sign...
Right now you are the SHARUK KHAN of the group.....!!!!

7 years and a Tag. Congrats boss...
and that first shot is beautiful, and once again can serve as a reminder to all macro enthusiasts of how difficult macro is with the razor thin DOF even at f11

Nothing special about the shots, but the gift is indeed special. And congratulations. :)
I would like to be framed in this way:
Orthogonal shot. You and your wife faces close and reflection on the watch with primary focus on the dials. The aperture should be just enough for the viewer to figure out your faces in the reflection.
Will be a lot of more creative and will justify the watch, occasion and the emotions behind it.

Wow! Congrats on completing 7 years of marriage, Vicky!
I'm a total noob when it comes to watches, but I do know that Tag Heur is one of the most elite brands and your watch looks superb!
As far as the shots go, I liked the 2nd one more than the 1st photograph. The 'date' section of the watch seems to be OOF in the 1st pic :(
Congratz mate...and nice shots...

Man this is inspiring. Great thought ! but lil difficult to implement if the dial glass of watch is not glossy. if you check your chrono carefully then either the reflection over the glass or the dial background will be visible at a time but not both .... possible candidate for HDR I can say and may have to play with layer transparency ...

Phew! You really think out of the box man!:) Great idea, though, how well this can be implemented in reality is another matter altogether:D

Truly speaking, I don't think I have what it takes to get a shot anywhere close to this:o

^Dont take it the wrong way. :) Your shots are excellent, and I really admire your work. And I know you can click anything you want, my idea could be a little too ambitious!
Wishing you have many many more anniversary clicks!
