Damn! This is one thing that needs loads of patience! 50 shots in a period of 25min or so and the camera resting on a makeshift support and all I get in the end is a 5 second video :|

Thanks Xavier for sharing. All you did is take 50 shots in a period of 25 mins? How do you upload as a video after that?

Thanks Ken.
There's this software called Movie Salsa (http://www.imagesalsa.com/MovieSalsa/). I have the trial version of it. But since I had only 50 shots, the trial version was good enough. I've heard that it's possible to create these videos in Photoshop CS3 too. Maybe someone else can shed some light on this. :)

Good stuff both of you. I think the video is better as a medium for TL because users expect a download wait time.
Keep up the good work.

good try PG :)
you were using the shutter botton each time of click ?
a cable release or remote will help the to prevent camera shakes.
there are some camera shakes @ your time lapses.
but acceptable :D
In my nikon d60 there a option to create time lapses inside the camera only.
but never tried yet :(
does your camera have that option ?

I have neither a tripod, nor a cable release. It was tough work and yes, the camera did shift a bit coz of all those presses. Used the 2 second timer mode though.
I guess none of the Canon DSLRs have this option that the Nikon D60 has. :)

timer mode will prevent camera shakes but in this case each time when u touches the camera to shoot it will produce a small movement and that might spoil the whole thing :)
below is the link from youtube.com , its a nikon D60 review, last few minutes he explains about D60's time lapse option.

Yep, only used the timer mode to 'minimise' the shake. I knew it was inevitable anyway.
And I have seen that video. :D Actually I've seen all video reviews of the 1000D/450D/D60/E-420/A200 that exist on youtube. Did a lot of research before going for the 1000D ;)

the most simple technique is put canon software on comp, attach camera and lappy, feed in time interval.go play game while it clicks.

i sat on the last bench.it was my SFM class.so took the shots from the last bench.
i think you cant silent a DSLR since the mirror khat khat sound will be produced when it comes to automated photography.
dont worry regarding 1512..all went in the lappy.so it was pretty fast.

After viewing these videos, i too decided to give it a try. I took about 40 shots of my watch at 2 second intervals using a P&S. The files started getting corrupted after that. I imported the pics into Picasa, then selected all of them ( ctrl+a) and clicked on the Movie button at the bottom. I set the transition style to time lapse, and adjusted the slider to 1/6th second. Came up with a video of about 5 seconds length.
Couldn't upload my video on youtube, though. super slow bandwidth :(
I'll be attempting another time lapse with my mobile phone camera soon. Lets hope I'm successful

I tried but couldn't do it in Quicktime. Maybe I'm using an older version.
Anyway here is the link to the video. Managed to upload it a short while back.

I also tried shooting with my mobile phone camera. I shot 117 frames at 4 second intervals (the best my arm and my phone could do!), and playback speed of 9 frames per second. Came up with the following:

@ Anvancy : Did you use the 550 D. A fully charged battery should do it right ?
Can you plse explain the steps .. how to go about this and also the EOS utility thing.

If you load EOS Utility there is an option of remote shooting.
Interval shooting is under that.cant remember the exact option right now.
Once you get all the shots, just put in quicktime.select 30fps.and you are good to go.

A few more to follow soon (as soon as I'm able to upload). Internet becomes frustratingly slow whenever youtube is involved!
EDIT: A few more:

Making these videos is really addictive for me. The only downside being the pain of keeping the arm rock-steady for 300 shots on an average! The results sometimes are worth it!
