I guess there are no members from Calcutta, I will search a few shops in Cal and post here if I find any positive information.

Thanks Sudeep. And if you do not find in Calcutta, you can try calling up Alfa Digital Imaging in Delhi.

That's a great idea. Do they courier stuff to Cal? I wonder.

Will call them.

I would suggest scouting around in Metro Gully before going to Khidderpore.

Hi Guys,

Can anybody shed some light on the following external flashes or flash guns:

Vivitar 285HV
LumoPro LP120 (best external manual flash gun)
Cactus KF36
Yougnuo YN460-I or YN460-II (very powerful flash but can get lemons due to QC issues)

Are any of them available in India? What is their price for new or second hand ones (if they are well maintained/trouble free)? (I'm on a very very short shoe string budget, thanks to health). What are the best triggers for these units? What is the cost of light stands that come with hot shoe for them?

Jianisi PT-04TM
eBay Triggers
Yougnuo RF-602

I'm trying to get atleast 3 of them to start with in house studio or product shots & learning about lighting. Any google search or other photo sites, doesn't give info about availability in India or its prices (in Gujarat or Mumbai, would be helpful).

Thanks in advance,

Thanks in advance,

regarding flash, ill straight cut go for the vivitar 285s.the biggest and best of the lot.built like plastic tanks, beautiful light.go with them.

regarding triggers the yougnuo RF ones stand up since they are tested/used by many strobists all around.if you can,buy the cactus V4s.

go to www.gadgetinfinity.com (http://www.thephotographer.in/darkroom/www.gadgetinfinity.com) and buy if possible.

you will get Simpex pro triggers in INDIA.many shops carry those studio light triggers.we want flash gun trigger.so the receiver should either have a PC socket or a hotshoe for the flash to attach on it. the yougnuo has it.

Also for vivitar, you will have to buy those PC to vivitar sync cables.vivitars carry their own propriety cables.so normal PC cables will not work.

You can also hack into the vivitar and attach a 3.5mm mono jack for making your flash universal to all radio triggers.

Anvancy Thanks for the wonderful & detailed answer buddy.

Just one minor help :- What would be expenditure of each item so that I earn/save that much before ordering?

Thanks for your help, really appreciated.
