View Full Version : Printing labs?

I got two 12"x8" prints of my photographs today from one of the so called best printing labs in Pune, 'Fotofast'. They charged around Rs 35 per print (which is normal, I guess?), but I was hugely underwhelmed by the quality of the prints. Now if such a reputed lab is giving me poor quality of prints, where do I go?
Pune guys, any suggestions? Anvancy?

Try ProfoLabs if you have one.

Rs 35 is cheap for sure. That you are underwhelmed is not surprising! :D

Labs tend to do their own color level settings, if i'm not mistaken. That can affect the output.

I don't think that there's a Profolabs here.
I thought Rs. 35 was normal? I've heard of labs in some cities charging Rs. 25 and stuff?

I'm guessing the same thing. I took great care in giving them the pics in the original resolution and cropping them in the 3:2 format.

So true! The picture you give them and the final output they give you do have a fair amount of difference (more evident in certain pictures).

I am also looking for a GOOD color photo lab, here in Delhi. Any good ones around? Mahatta, located in Connaught Place is good I believe, but I don't really know.

What you see on the screen and what you get as output is not necessarily the same. Most of us have not calibrated the screens. Most of the printers have not calibrated their machines. Etc.

Mahatta in Vasant Kunj is pretty good though they are a trifle steep. But Profolabs is VERY good!

i like fotofast for only one reason.

they use fujifilm imaging devices to print stuff.the paper is not fuji.but the print ink is of fuji.so my colors of fuji and theirs match to give nice results.

i dont like that lab because they think they are smart.they do their own editing and give us some crap.

according to my knowledge there is one in camp.he gives results.
also there is one called APEX which is very old in pune.he is near CDSS(in the lane adjacent to CDSS industrial estate)

also near that there is one called INKFLOAT.his prints are jewels but cost is like 140RS per sqft.so if u want big prints this is the man.

my suggestion is u try apex.i always liked his work.

Thanks Anvancy. Where exactly is this CDSS? And what are the normal rates that Apex charges?

I have used Zoomin (http://www.zoomin.com/Createaccount.aspx?refid=b4f0704a-387c-47ae-ad11-c2189a59b059) for my photo prints and found the quality of prints very good. Previously I have tried GK Vale in here in Bangalore and was disappointed with the prints.

The good thing about this is they use only Kodak paper.

The price list for the prints at Zoomin are in this link Zoomin Price List (http://www.zoomin.com/Photo-Prices/) I have taken prints of different size 4X6 5X7 and 8X10 with Glossy/Matte and metallic, and in my opinion the prints were of very good quality.
