Before and After Photo Duels Approved

Very good job there Rio. We would like to know the work flow involved to get this done. It would be nice if you could share it with us. Thanks.

Thanks dude. its really easy :)
just some simples steps. I will give step by step process.

1. First of all i adjusted the original layers levels, contrast, colour and brightness as we normaly does usualy with other photos.

2. Then removed unwanted things like marks and wringles from the photo using spot healing brush, healing brush, patch tool and cloning stamp tool.

3. Made a duplicate copy of this layer then give some blurr using lens blurr. This gives the skin soft effect.

4. Then deleted all areas except the skin. ( dont forget to delete eyes and lips areas )

5. Added new layer and painted dark brown over hair then changed the layer's blending mode to Soft light. ( dont worry about the colour, it can be changed according to your need using Hue/saturation )

6. Added new layers for lips, eye bowls, cheek, etc and edited as same as step no. 5

Thats all. Hope you guys try this :p

Wow! It sounds so simple and easy. Child's play huh! I am blown away by this explanation. I will try nonetheless. Lets see if I can get my blemishes off and become a blond overnight!

Oh yes, I will. If I get anything decent done, I certainly will. Though I am pretty sure that I will not remember the work flow!

Nice one Rio, though she does look a tad too 'yellow' in the second one. Did anybody else notice that?

I did notice the yellow bit. But I did not mind it. In fact, I noticed it only after you mentioned it.

Totally agree.

Btw, most laptop colours show more blue. Hence when you work on a certain photograph, it tends to go yellow when looked on a PC later. It has happened with me.

forget to tell you one more tip.

If the skin layer ( the one which we will give the lens blurr effect) seems to be more softer you can adjust it reducing the capacity of the layer untill you get your perfect soft and smooth skin effect. :D

Pretty neat effort at retouching. The only significant issue that I can find is that you have overly softened the skin, yet left the hair etc. intact. It lends a slightly unnatural appearance to the picture.

This may take longer, but making selections (and saving them) and using the age old clone/healing, smudge/blur/airbrush/dodge/burn would give you professional looking results (Think Playboy or sports illustrated), but obviously, it takes a lot longer.

made a new layer, painted brown colour using brush tool and changed the layer blending mode from normal to soft light. Thats all

If you want to try other hair colours just go to Image > Adjustments > hue/saturation and trying changing the colur moving the hue value.

Hope you got it.

Huh? I did ask if anybody else found it yellow too, didn't I?
And didn't I appreciate your work in the first place?
So much for constructive criticism!
