There has been a lot of discussion about best time of the day shootings. Its been said that light is harsh after 10 AM and is not a suitable time for landscapes. I read a blog which I forgot to save the URL, who talked about using that time of the day in a creative way, use PP, and results can be different.
So I too gave it a try, sharing this for critique-
Shot at satodi water falls near sirsi, karnataka. Shot at around 1 PM using Nikon Polarizer and UV filter on top of a 18-55 kit lens fitted over a Nikon D40 mounted over a quantaray tripod .

I have moved this to Outdoor Phototechniques section.

As you can see, despite the use of the Polarizer, the contrasts are still pretty strong and difficult to avoid. After 9 in the morning and till about 3 in the afternoon, in summers in the Nothern Hemishpere, you generally cannot take very good pictures unless you are using fill-in light from "another" source like a flash, or reflectors or external lighting.

A polarizer's job is to darken skies, make colours look more vivid and very importantly cut out glare from reflected surfaces hence giving better textures to these surfaces.

I am pretty sure you can avoid these times of the day to take pictures. I really cannot think of much more than this here.

Even in difficult times, you still have your humour working! :D

:D :D And now that it has been cropped for your benefit... what is your take on midday harsh lighting for landscapes (and other stuff that you may shoot)

I for example would not want to shoot the Taj Mahal after 9 in the morning even if you held a gun to my head!

I don't take out my camera for landscape shots under the mid-day sun. Whenever I visit places, I ALWAYS make it a point to wake up as early as I can (possibly at about 0430hrs. or so) just to make sure that I can capture the landscape photographs. :)

There is no substitute for the 'golden hours'. ;) No amount of PPing in this entire universe can give the same feel to a landscape, or any other subject. I talk of landscape as I love landscapes (apart from my first love - macros!) :D

And yeah, Taj Mahal would be a white blob under the mid-day sun, and guns were not allowed inside the premises, the last I visited the place! :D :D

Give it a try, you may get some result which is not conventional. Sometimes thinking out of the box induces innovation ;)
