Hi,
Its time for some new gear for me! Some stuff has already been ordered and are on way:D, while some are going to be ordered soon:) I'll update you'll as I get them!
This means that most of the current gear has to go:o I'm letting off some pretty decent deals on these and thought my fellow photographers might be interested in some of the stuff. Specially guys looking to take their first step into the DSLR world could setup a decent starting kit at bargain prices. Needless to say, my gear is very well cared for and in absolute great condition.
You can check out my sale offer here
(http://www.jjmehta.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1238925240)
I would have loved to post this here, but unfortunately, this website does not have a dedicated sub-forum for buy-sell like the on the one I posted.
Thanks for looking!

I hope you will put forward a detailled ownership experience of your new equipment that has been ordered and is on its way. Thanks for sharing and your active participation.
Edit: unable to see your stuff on the link sent.
Other than the Sigma 18-200 and the Canon 28-105, what else are you looking to sell?

@Vicky: That link asks the user to login or register. Please put up the list of your equipment here in this thread. Do you have any 'L' series lenses that I can acquire at pretty decent price, like perhaps the 24-70 f2.8L or even a 70-200 f2.8L? :D ;)
P.S: Also, would absolutely LOVE to know what equipment(s) have you ordered. Do share the details. I am eagerly waiting. :)

Sorry, link updated now:)
Currently, I've put the following out for sale: 400D, Grip, Extra Batteries, Sigma 18-200 OS, Canon 50mm 1.8... Currently I'm reluctant to put the 70-300 IS for sale since its such a sharp copy, but if get a decent offer, I might even let this one go. Not selling the 28-105 now as its been taken away by a friend for a month for use with this 350D:)

Maybe you should make him an offer on the 70-300 IS. "An offer he cannot refuse!"
Besides that you can also clean out the Grip and the batteries.
Oh! And btw, some of his stuff for sale is on view on classifieds.

The fact that you are selling the entire kit has a few pointers
selling 18-250: does not mean much except that the new camera does not have the EF-S mount (can be EF or some other system)
selling batteries and battery pack: means you are either getting a different range of camera that is not compatible with current stuff, or that it is another SLR system.
selling 50/1.8: this is a full frame EF lens, and if you're selling it, it points even more to the fact that system switching is going on.
PS. me being a Nikonian now cannot do anything with the EF stuff. And if you're becoming one, welcome to Nikkor-hood bro!!!! do let us know about the new gear.
EDIT: not selling the EF28 mm. can mean that the system remains canon, and you're getting a faster fifty too!!
EDIT2: Wait, not selling the Sigma 18-50/2.8, which is another cropper lens..... now I have absolutely no idea about your upgrade.... and my head hurts!!!!

My take is, he is going for a FF sensor or close to it, maybe a MkIII (non S). And with that some other lenses.

EXIF on pigeon is 600mm focal length
my bet is on the sigma 2.8 300 prime, with 2x tele-converter for the pigeon shot that says exif focal length 600 mm
EDIT:
UPON further googling sigma lens images, I now conclude that the lens is a Sigma 150 mm 2.8 EX macro, that was double stacked with 2x telecons for the 600 focal length on the pigeon. the 150 macro is the best match to the image of the lens posted above.

@Vicky: Congratulations for getting the Sigma 150mm macro lens! :D However, I am just curious: Why did you get the Sigma 150mm macro, and NOT the Canon 180mm 'L' macro lens? Is it because the Canon is a slower lens (f3.5 as compared to Sigma's f2.8) or perhaps the price? :p Or both?
Would love to get a detailed reply to that, if possible. :)

So unanimous was the verdict and user reviews on this lens, that I ordered it from USA and even paid the full amount for it in advance without even seeing a copy of this lens physically, let alone using / testing it. As for the 180L, its more than twice the price and I didn't even consider it for a moment:)
And I must say, I'm happy camper! I'm already floored by its sharpness and contrast :P
I hardly feel the need to do any Post Processing (read: contrast, saturation and sharpening) on the pics taken with this lens! Here's a recent example..
Just my standard conversion from raw in Adobe Camera RAW... no contrast / saturation adjustment or Sharpening applied at all..
Full Scene... bird about 12 feet from camera..

honestly, more often than not, the entire lens company is judged on a total of 4-5 lenses, its 300 and 400 superteles, its top 70-200, and its premium macro.
that 2.8 macro also makes for an awesome portrait lens....
now, take that lens down to 1:1 and show some shots... :)

hey great lens vicky. The pictures have made me rethink about the decision to get tamron 90mm for portrait purposes.
Its been a very busy week and I really haven't got the time to go out on a proper ' macro shoot' with this lens... and what I've done above are just some random shots around the house... and yet, I'm already floored by the performance of this lens!
-Track sharp... even wide open!
-Awesome contrast!
-Superb buttery bokeh!
-Perfect build and balance on my gripped 400D!
I also briefly tried this with the Kenko 2x Teleplus TC to get 300mm f/5.6 and I felt even with the 2x TC it was noticeably sharper than my 70-300 IS @ 300mm which in itself is a very sharp copy:eek:
I hope to do some controlled tests this weekend to confirm this!
One question though which may seem OT: to get photographs like that, what kind of focussing points do you use with the AI Servo?
Ken, I mostly use the Center focus point and Partial Metering for most of my work... be it portraits, macro, landscapes, sports, whatever:cool:

I do exactly the same thing. But then if you do that on AI Servo mode, you will not be able to maintain the rule of thirds with the centre focussing point. You get my point I am sure!

Thats what I thought when you said Centre Focussing point with AI Servo. Thanks for the clarification.

You cannot lock focus when you are using AI Servo.
In One Shot focussing, one is always locking focus and recomposing... standard procedure, for me at least.
Ah, my apologies. I somehow missed the AI-S part. :)

the fact that both tele-zooms are sold should mean that there is an incoming white cannon L tele (because those are the only thing above the 70-300 IS which definetly not a basic consumer lens but one notch above it)
