Photo Critique Approved

If you want critique;

If you are taking photographs of Hampi, something like 7 is nice stuff, but it is not striking. I do not see the purpose of 10. In 2, there is an interesting shot, with nice use of flash on the foreground subject. 9 is good as well, with good colours.

11, 12, 13 are good examples that typifies Hampi. These are photographs where we can somewhat see what Hampi is all about.

Shots like 3 and 4 are tough but I appreciate the effort. It is always tough to shoot relief on rock. You have to make use of shadows and light to be able to express depth in the relief.

15 is pretty good.

In all a decent effort I should say. But knowing you, I think that you can take Much better. Maybe you were hard pressed for time. Light was ideal though.

#12, #13 are great shot, I think the compression has eaten up some quality. #11 is great except for the cut off stone structure.

I personally don't enjoy photos that are tilted w.r.t the horizon, but looks like you guys had fun. :)

It would be even better if you could remove those two cables on 15.

We look like concurring on a lot of subjects (all puns intended!). :)

Indeed.

I like the lighting in #12.

Many pictures seem to be lacking a clear subject.

9 & 15 are my favourites from the set.
I agree with PS & Ken about the tilted horizon part too. Somehow, they take something away from the picture. Not my style, I guess.

Horizon needs to be straight... unless you want some purpose based dramatic portraits.

Thx guys for the comments.

@Ken: Im not yet able to understand the shadows, it jst doesnot get in my grey matter.

Bout the tilt, I was not able to get a object & tree in the frame without tiltin the lens. The place from where I was shootin was cramped & the cam was almost touchin the water.

I didnt see the power cables in #15 at all. Ny suggestion for a smart coverup there.

We didnt have time to concentrate on the clicks, jst point & shoot. We jst had 1hr our dim light in Hampi as we messed ur the schedule a bit.

All the pics are taken from my P&S Sony DSC110, the last shots from the cam before it broke a week later.

Will post some more pics, if u guys have time to study those & post ur views :)

I was trying to say that to shoot stone sculptures made in relief is a difficult proposition without having the correct play of light on your subject that creates sufficient shadows to effectively show the depth of the relief.

To cover up the cables, like we have discussed before in another thread with Vicky, you can use the band-aid feature in your photoshop.

It is a pity that the cam broke since it looks like a pretty decent piece of armoury. Yes, we would like to see more of your pix and further comments from members.
