Six Indian photographers are among the 186 shortlisted for for the prestigious Sony World Photography Awards 2009, organisers said today.
"Of the 186 selected photographers from 43 countries, there are 6 photographers from India, all of them competing in a variety of categories in one of the most prestigious photographic competitions in the world," a spokeswoman of the Awards said.

All the best to all of them! Winner receives 25000 US dollars as well as professional Sony camera equipment, and ofcourse a lot of recognition! :) Great!

What is this award, someone please share a little detail about it. And how do photographers go about it? I mean please share the intricacies of the event, if anyone has any idea.
