Went out today and shot another set of macros (and a few 'normal' pics. :p). I hope you like them. My Valentine's Day turned out pretty fruitful! :D

Equipment Used: Canon EOS 400D coupled with the Canon 100mm f2.8 USM macro lens. All shots were clicked hand-held.

Awesome!!! Why aren't you starting a new thread for each new set of pictures? That's how a photo forum works. So we can give our critique for individiual sets.

A one size fits all thread was okay on xBHp, if we do that here, most of the sections will remain unpopulated.

Sweet pics man.

Great work Aryan. Now I am seriously considering that lens of yours! Now if you could only show us with the same subjects, what would have been the results had you used the Raynox on the existing 100mm Macro. I also appreciate the progressive steps that you have shown on the first three ones...

Thanks a ton for moving it into a new thread. :) I really appreciate it. :) As for using the Raynox, I feel I am more "at home" just with the 100mm macro lens. ;) I would however try and shoot a few pictures with the Raynox mounted over the 100mm macro lens as well. But then that would require a tripod FOR SURE!

As for the 100mm macro lens, it is not a cheap investment (atleast it wasn't for me). Ofcourse it can be used as a normal short telephoto lens, but then again macro is where this lens absolutely shines! If you are interested in macro photography then do get it by all means. I can assure you that you would NOT be disappointed. ;)

@PS: Thanks man! I am glad you liked the pictures.

@ Aryan: There are quite a few tripods around. You can borrow one of them for a few shots I am sure.

Wow! great set here... so much better than your last set!!

My favorites are #1 , #2, #5, #6 & #12..

#1 - Love the idea....in #6 the focus should have been on the bee's head instead of the wings.... and in 5 & 12 there's color bleeding... ...when shooting very saturated colors like reds, violets or oranges , you need to overexpose slightly to avoid this... in 12 the orange is soo saturated that there's no detail visible in the petals, also the WB is also slightly off...

Overall, Great work Aryan!

Here's what #12 should look like...

@Vicky: Thanks for those true comments again. You have always inspired me. So much so that I was waiting to get your critical comments. :) Thanks! I'll still try to improve. The improvement process goes on. :)

You're welcome Aryan!

Coincidentally, I myself tried my hand at macro this Sunday... very similar subjects...flowers & bugs. Now I know, how much easier it is to give advice compared to doing the real thing:)

aryan..since critique..doing that.:p

for 1..now i dont know at what F u were shooting, but the first flower is bokehed..ok.the second which u have in focus is actually half in focus.the section or the other half of the foreground flower is going blur.my suggestion was to do both flowers focus,ie one flower focus one shot, and repeat for other.and then blend in CS4 for amazing sharpness.believe me flowers after blending look awesome.

something like this.

2 and 3 are awesome!
4 is good.
5 is again awesome.
my fav is no 7.just too good.
8th is ok
9th is again good.
10 is nice.
rest are nice.

KEN if aryan had put raynox on his 100mm,he will have to spend double time but he will get insane mags.
for raynox patience is the key.once u become somewhat used to distance funda then tripod is not required always.

It requires tremendous patience and concentration, isn't it? I am sure now you know! ;)

Hey Aryan.....wonderful Shots!

Thanks DCS! :)

@anvancy: I am not much into post-processing. Moreover, image stacking is something that is totally out of my purview. :D I prefer to keep things simple and as original as possible! ;) However, I am sure eventually, I WILL try out image stacking as well. I shot the macro photographs between f16 and f18.

As for using Raynox on the 100mm macro, that would result in some awesome abstract macro shots! :D
