Yes, time passers indeed! Not great shots. But white hibiscuses are lovely. Where did you shoot them? Lalbagh? :D I wish there some good shots of these flowers.

Ken da, so Synn has actually persuaded you to go for a non neutral WB! (warm yellowish hue in this case)
Looks nice, but somehow the bangles in focus just dont 'pop'/stand out. I guess the rest of them are also too colorful/alluring and hence distracting.

Now would you share with us the secret behind the Heart Shaped bokeh?

Thanks Tau and @Vicky for your kind words.

First of all there is no secret :) in heart bokeh its all over the net now. It's pretty easy but just needs some time.

This is one link I followed http://www.diyphotography.net/diy_create_your_own_bokeh

But the tricker part is not the bokeh but the light source which when blurred produces the shape. I created some own DIY stuff - you can use your own also.

Just some tips:
Keep the heart shape small (a 1.5 cm diameter heart for 50/1.8 ,bigger for higher apertures since they open up more)
50/1.2, 85/1.8 , 50/1.4 and 50/1.8 is the best for this kind of work.
There will be some vignetting - try to keep it in control.

I definitely did miss the focus. I guess it was shot at f/1.8 and the nifty fifty is damn soft at anything larger than f/2.5. It hits the sweet spot at f/2.8

+100.

Bokeh is the quality of blur, mostly noticed in OOF higlights.
Nothing else.

Are Bokeh only the out of focus circles or is the unfocussed area also called Bokeh?

Bokeh isn't the amount of blur, it's only the 'quality' of blur which is mostly visible in the out of focus highlights. Most pics in this thread aren't displaying bokeh, but pictures with some amount of background blur in them.

I don't know whether this photo suits here or not.

I'm not so sure if it qualifies under bokeh madness, but still life, or B&W for sure!

Like this one, though, my personal choice would be to have a bit more DoF. Then again, thats not what you were attempting I think.

Hope you're having a good time with the D7000 :)

If he has more DOF, he would lose out on the Bokeh.
