I thought it was "Critique" thread about R8 but then I realised its a photography forum.

Why didn't you clicked the pics from inside, the glass in between is spoiling the fun?

In the 2nd pic, not sure how it would have come, but you could have tried focusing the 2nd car, instead of the frist.

Other than "Lost potential", I cannot say much for the first two photographs. I quite like the third composition and even the overall finish.

The guard wouldnt allow access inside :(
So had to take the photos from outside and had limited scope of movement due to the other cars parked.

Nav, the 2nd car was an Audi A6, didnt really want to focus on that with the R8 in front of my eyes.

Come on you could have shown your card and gotten in and taken much better photos!

Ofcourse he won't allow you inside. He is in uniform and that gives him the right to keep you out if you do not look like a potential customer to HIM! But you are an autojourno! You have the perfect tool to counter such elements.

Rash: What focusing mode were you in, Manual or Auto? Do try to provide details while posting images for critique.

Rash: I like the image composition and treatment, but they look soft to me, with no clear focus point in the images (maybe the Audi logo in the first one?).

I blame the poor QC on the nifty fifty. Mine's front focusing too and I'm sending it to Canon for adjustment as soon as I have some time. I have an 'assignment' coming up this week and that was going to be my weapon of choice, but due to the front focusing I'm a little worried.

Motocycho: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 look great. Others seem to be missing the focus at the 'right' points.

Why didn't you bump up the ISO and take them at atleast 1/40s + ?

Thanks powerslave.
Yeah the last one is totally out of focus, couldn't make out if its a good one from the tiny 350D screen!! some time till i get used to it.
As for the ISO, i'm a bit skeptic about it making the photo too noisy.
This is the second time i stepped out with the cam and got to shoot , since i got the cam!

The best part about a DSLR is its high ISO capabilities. Trust me, you'll be surprised. I used to be a low-ISO junkie till I started using higher ISOs and faster shutter speeds, and shooting sports. Its not just beneficial in certain situations, its essential.

Moreover, I feel the grain at ISO 800/1600 would have added another dimension to the kind of treatment you've given these photos.

Good stuff.

^ I agree with you , even during broad day light using ISO -400 or 800 gives you more control than with low iso's.

Pics become grainy only for 1600 iso for night shots , even 800 works fine sometimes.

The 50 mil is pretty confused on the focusing front..And with the hugely shallow DOF and a tiny 3-inch screen, you don't know where the hell the focus is!

But its a killer littl' lens...Once you start getting it right...

As for the photos, they look alrite but a bit too darkish for me..The darkish tone is ok when your highlights are well defined and purposeful..With little control over the lighting in the showroom, it doesn't really pop..
