Hey everyone!

I know most of you here :) , and Sunny, another great piece of work brother. Anyway, here goes the formal intro:

This is Rohit Paradkar a.k.a ‘Rash’. This nick basically came into existence because of the way I used to ride when I first got motorized wheels. My stint with photography is weird and highlights what a slow learner I am. Way back when I bought a Karizma, I hardly knew any fellow bikers to hang out with. Hence I started riding out alone on Sunday mornings. My most prized gadget at that time was a Nokia 3650 camera phone. The main reason I bought that phone was for the inbuilt camera. What I had before that was a Minolta point and shoot film camera and the ‘36 photos’ restriction is what I hated. I started shooting my bike with the cell cam then. In a few months, something inspired me to start off with a biker’s club and hence our group of Rubber Smokin’ Angels was born. As bikes and skills increased in the group, I bought a used Canon a80 from a friend to capture instances of our meets on a flash card, in quality better than my cell. The love for gadgets followed me simultaneously and I kept fiddling with different cameras. However, at a point the only camera I had was my n73 cell phone.

And it wasn’t only the gadgets that I kept changing! My professions kept changing too – from call centre jobs to setting up my own business. Since my love for automobiles was never surpassed by anything else, I finally decided to take up to automobile journalism alongside my business. And that’s what I’m doing today – thrashing cars and bikes around for two prestigious magazines. The camera got upgraded to a 400D last year. About a couple of months back though, an irresistible offer ended up hanging a Canon 40D around my neck. Yes, I got a great camera according to many, but I really don’t think I am that good a photographer. And that’s precisely the reason why I'm scavenging around groups and forums trying to enhance my passion and whatever basic skills I have. Since I learnt a lot biking from xBhp, I'm sure this forum would do the same to my photography as well.

[Projects]: A few shoots for the magazines that I work for, whenever the photographer wasn't around. These mostly comprise of the races that I attend in Chennai/Coimbatore and a few shoots of bikes and cars.

[Current Hardware]: Canon 40D, 50mm f1.8 Prime, 55-250mm f4.5/5, Nokia n95 and 5800 Xpress Music

[Favourite Subjects]: Automobiles, gadgets, animals, sun/moon and pretty much everything that may look photogenic to me or the lens

[Favourite Photographers]: Frankly I look up to the people who get great results with the least of the hardware, cause it inspires me to try the same things out for I know you dont need to the best hardware for the best results. If names ARE to be listed then it would be Sunny (xBhp), Kunal Khadse (Zigwheels), Sunder Iyer (Business Standard newspaper) to name a few.

Welcome to thePhotographer

Quite an introduction there. It is good to see a dedicated automotive photojournalist amongst us. I hope your stay amongst us is as enriching for you as it will be for us. If you do not have copyright problems, you can share a little bit of the photographs that you do NOT have to share with your magazines during your reportings after the material has been published. That will be really nice for members here.

I've been wanting to ask this. Don't the security guards say anything when they see a guy with a DSLR entering the premises of the park? I've always wanted to go there since I bought my 1000D but was always apprehensive about it.
