I have more images from the fog scene .I have tried everything from levels , dodging ,burning ,this or that .Still not able to get the result I want :(.

any clue ? ignoring the composition in general .

Interesting mood created. Is this a heavy crop? It would have been nicer if the boat had been clearer and sharper and contrastier.

This is much better.

I do not care if the PP is good or poor. The photograph overall should look appealing.

The second one is much more "happening". There is a tree with two houses, there are people around, quite a bit of discreet action happening... and the mist adds to the mystique and enigma. I do not say it is a fabulous photo. But this is more presentable than the earlier one.

Its not a crop ken da. The pic was clicked at about 4-4:30 in the morning, so the auto focus was not able to get a clear lock if I could put it that way. Had to go in with the manual focus; an at the end of the day i realized that i was not pretty good at manual focusing :-( I was never able to get a clear look at the subject due to the low light, any suggestions on this front ?

@Robin: Lovely shots really defining... and regarding my shot honestly I don't quite remember I was trying many things it may been at f2.8 for this shot. But that Bokeh thread shot was the first shot with f1.4.

@Ken da: yes these are those electric diyas, but I still prefer the good old traditional ones ;)

Heres something I tried this Diwali but not quite what I wanted. I'll try it again.

Ken Da shooting in RAW makes me feel enlightened.

The depth and the flexibility that it offers for PP is amazing.

I have changed my camera setting to RAW for ever now and the shooting mode to Manual.

Last Sunday attended the Canon Edge workshop, its amazing for people who are beginners and know little about SLR. Thumbs up to Canon.

Cosplay, short for "costume play", is a type of performance art in which participants don costumes and accessories to represent a specific character or idea.

Shot with the sharpest lens in my bag:)

Is this Autumn in our country?

I did not know the Sigma 150mm is the sharpest lens in your arsenal. I thought that the 10-22 was.

Great perspective you provide. You set me thinking on composition.

@Jonak. Great shots. Some of them are Really sharp!

@vicky: Everytime when I see your shots, I learn a lot on different perspective of capturing things. Nice !

There is no spoon? Damn. I shot it the way it was lying around for half an hour before it was cleared away by the working staff.

Very nice sandeep!

Generally speaking,tea-spoons go hand in hand with tea and coffee.may be the spoon was cleared before.

I am a newbie with manual so the settings may have no logic. I think I may have added some fill light and cropping in post processing as well. The problem with the scene was that images I was taking was blurry due to the distance from the main subject.

The shot was taken with a 55-200mm lens (4.5-5.6) which isn't very sharp even with the VR is enabled for far off subjects. The most difficult shots I find are the ones with the above mentioned lens and a far off subject.
Look forward to a few tips which folks have around such shots. I did try my hand at commonwealth games as well (photos in flickr) where the composition came out OK but the shake due to the zoom level and subject movement makes it a difficult scene to capture.

Any tips for improvement would be welcome.

One of the reasons why it is not sharp is the high ISO factor. There will be grain all over the place!

Knowing the limitation of your equipment is always a plus point...If VR does not help to reduce vibration...tripods or monopods are an option. Regards.

Art is something which is as unique as each one of us. Be it music or art or photography, people try to copy others.try to do what others do. Ofcourse inspiration is needed. But dont make that inspiration run into pure copy paste. Make up your own style. Try to satisfy yourself. Not for the sake of others.

This is a shot inside a museum showcasing dinosaur remains. (Location - Royal Tyrrell Museum, Alberta, Canada). The scene was not that well lit but I didn't use a flash. Some more EXIF data -

Camera Nikon D60
Exposure 0.25 sec (1/4)
Aperture f/4.2
Focal Length 24 mm
ISO Speed 1600

I wasn't carrying my tripod so tried a couple of handheld shots and liked the one above.

Hi Guys,

Good morning,

All have a wonderful weekend.:)

Very nice.

Here is one from me for the road .... :-)

The image isn't very sharp and has been post processed with LR3 and PS CS5.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5258/5435507764_a33fb2a1ed.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/mohit_k/5435507764/)

BTW I noticed that most flickr links here are the inner most static images served by the flickr server. I think a better way to share flickr photos is to goto the photograph on flickr and click Share This-> Click on grab the HTML/BBCode -> Choose BBCode and copy paste the text provided there and use it on this forum. That gives a better link and opens up your flickr account for public viewing. The links I created above have been done using the method I describe and you'd notice that the title of the photo and hyperlinks are automatically provided by the flickr BBCode text.
