Is that cloud real?

Is that cloud real?

Yes, it's real. Only post processing is some curves adjustment. It's quite surprising, considering that Dabhol is a naptha-fired plant, rather than coal. I think it may just be steam from the turbines rather than smoke.

Thanks Cyclops. Winter is right here, this time Bangalore overtook north india.

This is marthahalli (underneath the flyover) .. It was actually hard (or rather gross) to walk in the middle of railway track that early in morning with heavy fog. We had numerous 'fresh' or 'straight from the oven' encounters. Like u can see the guy in the middle of track and guess where he is headed.
Reminds me of Hatia-Patna train when it crosses Jehanabad-gaya area at 6 AM LOL!

Anyways, Anything for photography.

DSLR Photo of the Day!
Posting one here... after a while...

Walking in Europe across the fields, driving across the countryside in August one gets to see these lovely haystacks rolled up in the fields and they have always tempted me to stop and shoot. I have been shooting over the years. But I have never been able to really get a good shot. Until this time when I managed to get a relatively presentable shot in overcast conditions, much better than when I used to get full sunlight.

Play with lines in the fields!

Anvancy

Yes Anvay, its a tire tube, very unorthodox & crude fishing boat! I wanted the silhouette, so didn't bring details from the tire. Also, this was a long shot (me on top of a building & this at the other end of the Sabarmati riverfront), I couldn't precisely use the morning light to my advantage! Also, from my vantage point, I needed a bit of underexpose to bring that fishing net into view & that underexposes the tire by a lot!

Windmill's on my list of must-shoot once items!

Just one speck of dust! When I went to Pune, I don't know how but the sensor has so many dust specks, so is the viewfinder & lenses. Tried home cleaning, but hasn't removed all of 'em specks, especially the ones in viewfinder! Had to do cloning on Pune pics to remove the specks from images! :(

Why don't you give it to the service center, assuming that there is one there?

The Nikon manual says that you should preferably service the camera at-least once a year.

No authorized service centre here & a few local ones charge exorbitantly & I don't trust 'em with work. Next best option is to travel 100kms & then get it cleaned there! :)

Been there, that feeling multiples after you post it in this forum :)
Here is my take one the whole situation : patience. Spent atleast a minute trying to figure out how and what you want to shoot( composition). Take atleast 3 pictures of the same subject ( if possible the more the better) in different setting/composition. The LCD is out best friend, though it doesn't give you a complete idea of how the picture would look like, it gives you a very good perspective..

As with everything, the theory is easy putting it into pratice takes a lot of effort..

(I think I'm spending most of my time reading about photography! Blame the late night shifts! )

Ahh well, but I regarded that previous shot as 'the shot of the session'. Was very happy once I saw the first attempt on the screen and then asked my father to stay still while I take some more attempts.

Decreased the ISO to 100 and set the Aperture to f/9, rested the Camera on the floor and then shot it in Live-view for added sharpness with Nikon's Vibration Reduction turned off.
